The Gold Buckle Extravaganza Weekend is an exciting and fun-filled weekend of activities prior to the start of the Ozark Empire Fair.  The Extravaganza will include market shows for four species of animals, the annual 4-H/FFA Livestock Judging contest, a Stockman's Contest, Team Sales Talk Competition, Showmanship contests and evening events.  The weekend focuses on activities strictly for 4-H and FFA exhibitors eligible to compete in the Ozark Empire Fair District competition.

4-H/FFA Market Livestock shows will be held for steers, lambs, barrows and wether meat goats.  The top animals from all of these divisions will be sold in the Gold Buckle Gala Auction set for 7 pm Monday July 23 in the E*Plex.  The top animals will also be displayed in the Hall of Champions throughout the Ozark Empire Fair, July 27 - August 5.

Individual and Team Competition

Exhibitors may compete as individuals and/or as teams.

Each exhibitor participating will gain points as an individual, for their team (if they choose to participate on a team), and for their club or chapter.

Awards will be provided in all three areas of competition.  Teams do not have to be from the same club or chapter.  They may be comprised of any age group of individuals who are active in 4-H and/or FFA and from the counties eligible for competition at this event.  However, the division for team competition will be determined by the age of the oldest team member.  Individuals will also gain points for their designated club or chapter, by participating and placing in competitive events.

Age for competition is exhibitor's age as of January 1, 2007.  Divisions will include:

Junior:  12 years and under

Intermediate:  13-17 years

Senior: 18 years and over

Participation points will be awarded for each of the events as pre-determined by a scoring committee.  Exhibitors will also receive awards for their placing in each of the competitive events.  Exhibitors may compete on a team and may also accumulate points for their 4-H or FFA chapters.

Showmanship will not be a stand-alone competition.  No points will be accumulated for overall individual and team places.  Showmanship awards will be presented in each of the shows and special awards will be presented to winners of the Round-Robin Showmanship Contest.
